It’s time for Dad to ditch the Apple watch and opt for the elemental style of a luxury watch. As an authorized watch dealer, we carry the trust of our designers in every transaction and the knowledge and services to be the one and only destination for your timepiece. This Father’s Day, gift Dad a watch that fits his lifestyle and is as dependable as his love for his children.

Nomos Glashuette Ahoi Neomatik Date 38mm Men's Watch, Sand Dial

A Business Modern Watch

You won’t find a watch as clean, modern, and highly relevant as a Nomos Glashuette. The minimalist design focuses on a contemporary look—appealing to today’s discerning watch enthusiasts. Though, don’t be mistakenNomos has a tradition of handmade watchmaking that spans over 175 years. Made in Germany, made with precision, and made just for Dad.

Seiko Essentials 39mm Men's Watch, White Dial

A Sports Watch

A Seiko watch is where strength meets style. It is the premier choice for a men’s athletic watch built with active dads in mind. Seiko stands out especially in the realm of athletics, frequently sported by two of its ambassadors: MLB star Shohei Ohtani and tennis talent Novak Djokovic.

TAG Heuer is celebrated for originality in the niche of sports watches because of its association with the Olympic Games and motor racing. The Carrera collection, inspired by the illustrious Carrera Panamericana auto race, is ideal for dads who have a passion for motorsports. Alternatively, TAG’s water-resistant Aquaracer line is a prime option for fathers who partake in water sports or enjoy the maritime lifestyle.

Montblanc 1858 Automatic Date 41mm Men's Watch, Iced Sea Dial

An Adventure Watch

Enjoy rugged reliability with a watch from Breitling. Any watch from the Navitimer, Superocean, and Superocean Heritage lines will give peace of mind to any dad in motion. Breitling watches are renowned for being durable and stylish (yes), but—above all—cutting-edge. The brand’s aim is to create a “legendary future” accomplished in part through digitalization. The move in 2020 to introduce a blockchain-backed digital passport for all new Breitling watches was a significant advancement. Elevate Dad into the twenty-first century with a watch that can go with him anywhere and function beyond his imagination.

Did you know that you can actually use a watch in place of a compass? Montblanc—a company that takes their name from the highest peak in the Alps—has pioneered the 1858 collection—a series inspired by the spirit of mountain exploration. These watches often come equipped with (see product details for specifics) a compass bezel, dual time zones, and a chronograph, providing reliability in the most challenging environments. You may already know Montblanc for their high-quality writing instruments, which make thoughtful Father’s Day gifts, but their watches are equally as exceptional.

Citizen Sport Luxury 43mm Men's Watch, Light Blue Dial

An Eco Watch

Citizen Watches EcoDrive collection puts the brand at the forefront of innovation, fusing technology and environmental consciousness. These watches generate energy from outdoor and artificial light sourceseliminating the need for traditional batteries. This trademark ensures long-lasting performance and reduces impact by negating battery disposal. Citizen’s commitment to sustainability shows through their partnerships with nonprofits such as 1% for the Planet, American Forests, and more. Gift with a purpose this Father’s Day; gift a men’s Citizen watch.

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Black Steel 42mm Men's Watch, Black Dial

A Military Watch

Inspired by the history of aviation and aeronautical instruments, Bell & Ross adheres to rigorous military specifications in creating, designing and manufacturing watches that boast peak performance in any element. Bell & Ross has a penchant for precision and a bold, state-of-the-art style. Their timepieces are inspired by the instrumentation found in aircraft cockpits, making them highly readable and especially trusty. If Dad isn’t in the armed forces but he values military grade engineering, a Bell & Ross watch is still a gift he will appreciate. Each time he straps on his force of nature, he will have an all-purpose tool that merges practicality with refinement.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300m Co-Axial Master Chronometer 43.5mm Men's Watch, Black Dial

An Extreme Watch

From seas to skies and everything in between, an Omega watch is prepped for action. So much so that a watch from the iconic Speedmaster collection was the first ever worn into space. So you better believe it can survive anything Dad tackles, like those Saturday morning projects.

James Bond popularized Omega’s Seamaster, but it’s favored by divers because it’s water resistant. Various models offer capabilities to withstand depths up to 2,000 feet. Those such as the Diver and Planet Ocean feature a helium-escape valve, allowing divers to safely release any helium that may infiltrate the watch during prolonged underwater excursions. Go to great lengths for Dad by giving him a watch that will do just the same.

Tips for Stacking Bracelets with Watches https://www.borsheims.com/blog/bracelet-and-watch-ideas/ Wed, 04 Oct 2023 16:21:58 +0000 https://www.borsheims.com/blog/?p=14160 Learn how to wear a bracelet with a watch.

The post Tips for Stacking Bracelets with Watches appeared first on Borsheims.

Stacking has become an art form where you pick jewelry pieces that complement each other and define your style – all while bringing your look to the next level. There’s just something so gratifying about finding the perfect accessories that make you feel more confident as you take on the day. For this reason, we are especially fond of stacking bracelets and wristwatches – perfectly pairing beauty and function. The watch acts as the focal point, a functional and often sophisticated accessory that grounds the entire look, while the bracelets add layers of texture, color and personal meaning.

Start with the Watch

Choosing the right watch as your base is crucial. A timepiece with a minimalist design provides an elegant backdrop, allowing the bracelets to shine. On the other hand, a more intricate or statement watch can serve as a bold centerpiece, around which you can build a complementary stack of bracelets. The juxtaposition of the sleek, structured wristwatch with the organic and often free-spirited nature of bracelets creates a harmonious blend of styles. We recommend placing the watch on your wrist, closer to your hand, and then adding the bracelet(s) above it on the side closest to your elbow.

Play with Textures

Mix textures for a visually appealing combination. Pair a smooth leather watch band with a textured bracelet or combine beaded bracelets with a simple, sleek watch.

Dress for the Occasion

To take your look up a notch, match the style of your watch and bracelet to the occasion. Opt for a more refined and elegant stack for formal events—think diamond bracelets, patent leather watch bands and more. For every day, go for a more casual, relaxed vibe.

Balance Your Stack

If you plan to wear multiple bracelets, create a symmetrical and balanced look by placing them on either side of the timepiece. For example, wear one or two bracelets on one side of the watch and a similar number on the other side.

Consider Size and Proportion

Pay attention to the size of the watch and the bracelet together, as you will want them to be proportional. If you’re wearing a bulky or oversized watch, opt for thinner and more delicate bracelets. Be careful mixing chunky bracelets with a dainty wristwatch, as these thicker bracelets can overpower the more delicate timepiece.

black and yellow gold bracelet watch stack

Coordinate Colors

Coordinate the colors of your watch and bracelets to create a cohesive and harmonizing look. For example, if your watch is yellow gold and black, wear bracelets with yellow gold tones and black accents to match.

Mix Materials

Mixing different materials is a popular way to add interesting contrast to your look. If your watch is metal, pair it with a beaded bracelet to add depth and variety to your wrist.

Personalize Your Stack

Add a personalized touch to your stack by including bracelets with colored gems, charms or initials. This not only adds visual interest but also tells a story that’s unique to you.

If you need help putting together the perfect bracelet and watch pairing, one of our experts would be happy to assist you. Stop into our store or text or call 402.391.0400 during store hours to speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales associates.

Watch Care 101: How to Maintain Your Watch https://www.borsheims.com/blog/watch-care-tips/ Tue, 28 Feb 2023 16:15:54 +0000 https://www.borsheims.com/blog/?p=13310 Follow these helpful tips to keep your watch looking and functioning like new.

The post Watch Care 101: How to Maintain Your Watch appeared first on Borsheims.

]]>

When properly cared for, a quality watch can last a lifetime—or many lifetimes in the case of vintage watches or those passed down through generations. We’ve compiled a list of simple tips and guidelines to help ensure that your timepiece stays in its best condition for as long as possible. For instructions and specifications on your particular timepiece, please reference the instruction manual that accompanied your watch at the time of purchase.

Maintaining Your Watch

Taking appropriate steps to maintain your watch will make all the difference in how good it looks, how well it functions and how long it ultimately lasts. By servicing your watch regularly, you can significantly extend its lifespan and ensure that it keeps performing properly year after year. The rule of thumb for how often a watch should be serviced is every 5-7 years for mechanical and automatic watches and every 7-10 years for quartz watches. However, your watch will likely require more frequent professional cleanings, battery changes and pressure tests.

Cleaning

It is recommended to have the exterior of your watch ultrasonically cleaned annually. This will remove any dirt from the watch bracelet and case. In addition to maintaining your watch’s appearance, ultrasonic cleaning will help protect the pins and links in your bracelet against everyday wear and tear.

Battery Changes

The average life of a battery is one to three years. However, the watch’s condition, movement, and age affect how long a battery lasts.

Many modern quartz movements are equipped with an EOL (End-Of-Life) feature which allows the watch to conserve energy once the battery is depleted to a certain point. The timepiece will conserve energy by skipping four seconds at a time instead of every second as usual. This feature will allow the watch to remain on time for around 30 days before the watch stops completely.

Water Resistance

Most modern watches today are rated for varying degrees of water resistance. Therefore, the watch manufacturers and our in-house watchmakers recommend having your watch pressure tested every time the battery is replaced. Ensuring that your gaskets and seals are in proper working order is the best way to protect against moisture and dirt, which can affect the overall functionality of your timepiece.

If your watch encounters moisture, wipe it down as quickly as possible with a soft, dry cloth. At your earliest convenience, we recommend taking your timepiece to be examined by a professional and dried out if necessary.

Winding Your Watch

manual watch

Manual Watches

Manual wind watches should be wound fully every day at the same time. These watches typically require 30-40 turns of the crown to be fully wound. As you wind the watch, you may begin to feel the tension of the mainspring. You will feel resistance when the watch is fully wound, indicating you can stop winding.

Automatic watch

Automatic Watches

Automatic watches have a slipping mainspring which allows the watch to be self-wound through the movement of being worn without the fear of being “overwound.” Remember that the watch may require more activity to keep the power reserve full if you have a less active lifestyle. If your watch is not keeping time properly, you can hand wind most automatic movements to ensure the power reserve is full and the watch keeps time as accurately as possible.

Storing Your Watch

To keep your watch looking and functioning at its best, store it in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. Water is the natural enemy of all timepieces, and prolonged exposure to moisture or dust may impact many aspects of a watch. A watch box is a great option to help protect your watch against dust and dirt.

It is also recommended to keep all boxes, accessories and paperwork that accompanied your watch at the time of purchase in a safe place for quick reference when necessary.

watch box

Insuring Your Watch

Did you know that most homeowners’ insurance policies don’t adequately cover personal items such as jewelry and watches? Insurance laws vary from state to state and abroad. For this reason, we recommend contacting your trusted insurance professional to find out what option makes the most sense. Proper insurance coverage typically requires an official appraisal from a reputable jeweler. Borsheims is pleased to offer complimentary appraisals for jewelry and watches purchased from us. A fee may apply if Borsheims cannot find a record of the purchase and original proof of purchase is not provided.

From there, Seiko went on to make many major advances in watchmaking and is now one of the most recognizable names in watches. Perhaps Seiko’s most significant contribution to the watch industry came in 1969 with the introduction of the world’s first quartz watch, the Seiko Quartz Astron. This significant accomplishment kicked off a series of international firsts for the brand, including the world’s first diver’s watch with a titanium case, which set a new standard for diver’s watches. Today, Seiko watches are known and admired for their rich history, timeless design and incredibly innovative movements.

Tissot was also the first to produce watches out of plastic, stone, mother of pearl, and wood.

From cycling and motor sports to ice hockey and beyond, Tissot is very involved in the world of sports on an international scale. Perhaps most famously, Tissot has served as the official watch of the NBA since 2015 and boasted brand ambassadors such as Tony Parker, Klay Thompson, and Trae Young.

If you’re looking for timeless luxury watches for men, we’ve got you covered from water-resistant watches to unmatched limited editions. But with so many options to choose from, how do you know which one is right for you? And just what exactly makes a luxury watch a luxury watch? We’ve collected all of the must-have details on eight luxury watch companies to help you decide on your perfect fit.

While there is no definitive definition of what constitutes a luxury watch, the consensus we’ve come to is a combination of performance, quality and design. All of which are exemplified in these luxury watchmakers below.

breitling watch

Breitling

Breitling is a Swiss luxury watchmaker based in Grenchen, Switzerland. Breitling watches are designed to withstand intensive use in the most trying conditions. Every Breitling watch is a COSC-certified chronometer, and only 3% of Swiss watch production are COSC certified. This guarantee draws interest, most notably, from divers and those in aviation. Common features found on Breitling include a highly readable face and strictly mechanical winding mechanism. Breitling also offers interchangeable straps made from leather, rubber or ECONYL fabric, a feature not often found among luxury watches.

cartier watch

Cartier

Cartier got its start in Paris in 1847 and grew to become a French luxury goods brand known for designing and manufacturing high-end watches and jewelry. In 1904, the Santos was created for a pilot friend of Cartier and is still one of the brand’s most popular models to date. In its earlier years, Cartier’s designs were particularly adored by King Edward VII and were often referred to as “The jeweller of kings and the king of jewellers.” Today, Cartier is one of the most recognizable names in the watch industry, known for its luxurious design and “shaped” comfort.

iwc watch

IWC Schaffhausen

In 1868 an American engineer and watchmaker, Florentine Ariosto Jones of Boston, founded the International Watch Company in an effort to combine Swiss craftsmanship and American technology. Along with F.A. Jones, the men created the only watch manufacturer in north-eastern Switzerland, in the town of Schaffhausen. These watches have become known for their combination of functionality and luxurious appeal. Some even say to impress a layman, wear a Rolex, but to impress a collector, wear an IWC Schaffhausen. These watches reflect the latest in timekeeping technology, most notable the Portugieser, so smart that it will provide the precise day, date and moon phase for the next 480 years and beyond.

jaeger-lecoultre watch

Jaeger-LeCoultre

Meticulous attention to detail, perfection and beautiful lines are just a few of the features that set this unique luxury watch brand apart. Antoine LeCoultre founded Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1883, which was the world’s most precise measuring instrument at that time. These luxury timepieces were and continue to be built on a foundation of revolutionary in-house invention. This innovation includes 1,200 calibers in its time (most have only a handful), a keyless system to rewind watches, 400 patents, and the creation of the iconic Reverso, its most iconic timepiece even still today. JLC has unprecedented control over the quality and attention to detail of their watches as, unlike most manufacturers, they make their own cases, dials and hands in-house. It is this approach to watch-making that continues to set the Jaeger-LeCoultre apart.

nomos glashutte watch

Nomos Glashutte

Unlike many of the other luxury watches featured here, Nomos Glashutte is based in Germany and didn’t get its start until the late 1900s, after the fall of the Berlin wall. Known for its clean and modernist aesthetic, this luxury watch manufacturer aligns itself with handcrafted industrial production and design ideals with functionality. NOMOS currently offers 13 variations of manual winding and automatic mechanical watches. In 2018, Nomos Glashutte became the second non-Swiss brand to win the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), the Oscars of the watchmaking world with the Tangente Update model.

omega speedmaster watch

Omega

Perhaps most famously known as the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games, Omega watches also have a reputation for intricate detail, stunning design and quality workmanship. Established in 1848 in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland, as Louis Brandt & Fil, the brand changed its name in 1903 after creating the famous 19 caliber watch named Omega. A certain air of exclusivity for this luxury watch brand is maintained through an aggressive ad campaign promoting major sporting and movie events as well as notable celebrity endorsements. Omega watches can often be spotted on the wrists of Daniel Craig, Prince William, George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Nicole Kidman.

tag watch

TAG Heuer

Founded in Switzerland in 1860 by Edouard Heuer and later acquired by French luxury goods company Techniques d’Avant Garde, TAG Heuer bears the name we’ve all come to recognize. As early as 1911 TAG Heuer began manufacturing timepieces for the dashboards of automobiles, aircrafts and boats in addition to timing devices for ski and racing events, including Formula One. In 1962 Heuer became the first watch in space when John Glen piloted the Mercury-Atlas 6. Some current lines include Formula One, Aquaracer, Carrera, Monaco and Autavia. Newer models include the Monaco V4 driven by belts, not gears; the Carrera Calibre 360, which is the first mechanical wrist chronograph to measure and display time to 1/100 of a second; and the Monaco 69, which allows wearers to flip between a digital chronograph and traditional mechanical movement.

zenith watch

Zenith

Zenith is a Swiss luxury watchmaker which got its start in 1865 by Georges Favre-Jacot. It is one of the only Swiss watch manufacturers to still produce their movements in-house rather than outsourcing them like many luxury brands do today. Perhaps not as well-known as some other watch brands, Zenith is renowned among luxury watch collectors. In 1988 Rolex developed a self-winding Daytona based on a movement manufactured by Zenith. At the time, it was the only movement that met the high standards of the Rolex watchmakers. The Zenith El Primero gained popularity during this time as it was the model which housed the movement used to help build the Rolex Daytona. Zenith is also known to withstand even the harshest of elements. In 1970 the first El Primero was strapped to the landing gear of an airplane crossing the Atlantic Ocean between Paris and New York. Despite reaching temperatures of -62 degrees Celsius and an altitude of 10,000 feet, the watch remained unscathed and maintained its accuracy within a second.

Whether you’re looking for Swiss-made, a long, rich history or a luxury watch that can withstand the elements, these eight luxury watch brands certainly have you covered when it comes to performance, quality and design.

If you need help picking out the perfect watch for yourself or someone else, one of our watch experts would be happy to assist you. Stop into our store or text or call 402.391.0400 during store hours to speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales associates.

Why You Should Only Buy Watches from an Authorized Watch Dealer https://www.borsheims.com/blog/why-buy-watch-from-authorized-dealer/ Thu, 22 Sep 2022 18:24:27 +0000 https://www.borsheims.com/blog/?p=12703 Learn more about the many benefits of buying a watch from an authorized dealer.

The post Why You Should Only Buy Watches from an Authorized Watch Dealer appeared first on Borsheims.

]]>

Gone are the days when wristwatches were simply a practical accessory – a necessary tool for keeping track of time. Now more than ever, watches make a statement. Classically elegant or uniquely modern, they help define our personal style, and a high-quality watch can be an investment that lasts a lifetime. The key? Buying your watch from an authorized watch dealer.

Choosing authorized watch dealers over large online retailers can make all the difference when it comes to the quality, authenticity, maintenance and longevity of your next watch purchase. Here are some of the top reasons to choose an authorized watch dealer for your next wristwatch.

1.) Authenticity

The watch market is saturated with fake name-brand watches, but there’s an easy way to ensure the watch you buy is the real deal. When you purchase from an authorized watch dealer, you’re not only getting a beautiful, high-quality timepiece – you’ll also get the peace of mind that the watch you’re investing in is authentic and not a knockoff.

2.) Better warranty coverage

While most watches come with a basic warranty (usually 1-3 years), authorized watch dealers will commonly provide an extended warranty that can prolong your coverage for up to 5 years, allowing for a replacement or repair should the watch have a defect. On the flip side, a large online retailer may not accept a return for any reason, leaving you with no good solution and a lost investment.

3.) A direct connection to the manufacturer

Buying from an authorized watch dealer means you have a direct connection to the brand that manufactures your watch. Your watch dealer can help you communicate with the manufacturer, share any questions with them and even help arrange a tour!

4.) Knowledge and experience

With a large online retailer, what you see is what you get. It’s up to you to research watches and choose the one you think is best, without any insight from a knowledgeable human being. On the other hand, an authorized watch dealer employs jewelry and watch experts who know watches – from their interior workings to the trends and designs that fit your style. Plus, they’ll keep you informed about new styles coming down the line.

5.) Retailer support

Working with an authorized dealer means you’ll have someone in your corner if something goes wrong with your watch or if you have any questions or concerns about how it works. These dealers stand behind their products and are deeply invested in customer satisfaction, which benefits you now and in the years to come. Borsheims offers a full range of watch services for maintaining your timepiece – visit our Watch Repair and Services page to learn more.

6.) The chance to purchase new designs first

Once you’re “in” with an authorized watch dealer, they’ll take the time to learn your preferences, needs, and favorite brands and styles. Then, going forward, they’ll make sure you’re the first to know about new products so you can be the first to buy them.

7.) Access to exclusive products

Authorized watch dealers aren’t just a favorite of discerning consumers – they also maintain special partnerships with watch companies that often give them access to exclusive products. When you shop with a dealer, you’re likely to find products and styles you won’t find anywhere else.

There’s no doubt that authorized watch dealers, like Borsheims, offer a smarter, more reliable source for your next timepiece. If you need help choosing a watch that meets your needs and fits your style, our watch experts would be happy to assist you. Text or call 402.391.0400 during store hours to speak with one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales associates.

Best Dive Watches https://www.borsheims.com/blog/best-dive-watches/ Wed, 23 Mar 2022 19:05:00 +0000 https://www.borsheims.com/blog/?p=11148 Learn what a dive watch is and which designs are best with this quick list!

The post Best Dive Watches appeared first on Borsheims.

Dive watches are among the most popular and well-known watch varieties on the market today. And despite their very specific name, many dive watch owners have no plans to wear their watch diving. Instead, they are drawn to the watch for its everyday wearability, solid construction and straightforward dial design. Whether you are the most passionate of watch collectors or the most naive of watch beginners, we’ve compiled a list of the best dive watches— with designs starting at just $500.

What is a Dive Watch?

A dive watch, also known as a diver’s watch or diving watch, is a watch that’s specifically designed for underwater diving. There are a few characteristics that distinguish a dive watch, including:

 • Water Resistance. Diving watches are built to withstand at least 100 meters of water resistance, but most will have a water resistance of around 200-300 meters or deeper.
 • Readability. A dive watch must be legible underwater, and many contain luminosity for low or no-light conditions.
 • Rotating Bezel. Dive watches come equipped with a rotating bezel to let the diver know how long they’ve been underwater. Some models may even show the diver’s depth.
 • Durable Strap. Most dive watches have rubber or stainless steel straps, because these materials are the most adaptable to seawater and can withstand pressure, direct sunlight and humidity.

Top Graduation Watches for Young Men:

citizen chandler watch

Watch 1:

Citizen Chandler

Citizen watches offer some of the most worry-free wearing experiences out there due to their affordable prices and their use of Eco-Drive, Citizen’s proprietary movements that use solar power to oscillate the high accuracy quartz within. With their Eco-Drive movements, Citizen watches do not use a traditional battery like many quartz watches on the market do. Instead, they can be charged by either artificial or natural light and will run continuously on a full charge for months before needing light again. Simply put, Citizen watches are an obvious choice for someone seeking a solid watch for a reasonable price.

tissot gentleman watch

Watch 2:

Tissot Gentleman

When it comes to entry-level watches from Switzerland, Tissot is at the head of the pack. Since the launch of their new Gentleman models, these watches have quickly become top-sellers for their do-it-all approach in both specifications and design. You can choose from a variety of dial colors and a more affordable quartz option, as well as a more expensive automatic version. A versatile choice, this watch will look great whether working in the office or spending a casual day by the pool.

hamilton khaki field watch

Watch 3:

Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical

Like our previous two entries, Hamilton watches are some of the best value you will find on the market. The line that is perhaps the most synonymous with the brand’s history is their Khaki collection. Hamilton was headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, until 1969, before moving their production overseas to Switzerland. During this period in the mid 20th century, they built their reputation around military-issued field watches that became popular with military personnel. This proud part of the brand’s history is best represented by the Khaki Mechanicals, which feature a wearable stainless steel case, an 80-hour power reserve, versatile looks, and a manual wind caliber to stay in alignment with its roots. With all that said, you could make the argument that this is the best Swiss watch you can find for around $500.

nomos club campus watch

Watch 4:

NOMOS Club Campus

It is only fitting that we include the NOMOS Club Campus when putting together a graduation watch list considering it was a watch made for this exact circumstance. With a youthful and clean design, the NOMOS Club Campus has been a bestseller for the brand, offering an excellent entry door to experiencing this manufacturer. NOMOS is now the leading manufacturer in Germany when it comes to total units produced, and they are also industry leaders in the development of their own in-house components. The Club Campus is made for the next generation—the Graduates’ Club, celebrating academic success from SATs to PHDs.

omega seamaster watch

Watch 5:

OMEGA Aqua Terra

Now, I will be the first to admit that it might be a stretch to mention this watch as a graduation gift given its price tag, but it is such a standout that it could be your only watch for the rest of your life. The Aqua Terra is a member of the famous Seamaster family of watches from OMEGA but deviates from the dive watch undertones typically associated with the collection. Instead, it offers a capable everyday watch ready to take on any scenario. The Aqua Terra comes with a healthy water resistance rating of 150 meters, a Co-Axial and METAS certified movement that undergoes some of the industry’s strictest testing standards. This watch offers unmatched versatility with its timeless steel bracelet and blue dial, transitioning seamlessly from a casual watch to a dress watch.

Top Graduation Watches for Young Women:

tissot carson watch

Watch 1:

Tissot Carson

As previously stated, Tissot is very much a leader in the entry-level price category. Despite Tissot’s overall recognition as a watch brand, an underrated collection from them is their Carson series. This Carson watch offers a balance of dressy undertones with casual utility that can be paired with a variety of outfits. Powering the watch is a reliable Swiss-made quartz movement that will offer peace of mind to its wearer. Bottom line, this watch is an excellent choice for someone just jumping into the world of Swiss-made timepieces for the first time.

michele deco madison watch

Watch 2:

Michele Deco Madison

Michele watches offer an excellent alternative for those looking for elegance without the sometimes pretentious connotations of high-end brands. Offering reasonable prices and classic designs with a splash of flair, Fossil Group brand Michele is one of the best choices for a women’s watch that will transition into a more formal office environment. Inspired by trailblazers in this type of design, such as the Cartier Tank, Michele exhibits a contemporary take on an Art Deco design formula that has achieved a level of timelessness rarely seen.

longines conquest mother of pearl watch

Watch 3:

Longines Conquest Mother of Pearl

When it comes to historically rich brands with an overabundance of prestige, Longines is undoubtedly involved in the conversation. With a mix of vintage-inspired and purpose-built timepieces in their collection, there are many directions one could go when looking at the brand. The Conquest collection is one of Longines best endeavors, offering a nice middle ground of style and utility. With this Mother of Pearl model, the star of the show is without question the dial, exhibiting a striking dial surface that will grab attention without being overly flashy.

nomos orion watch

Watch 4:

NOMOS Orion

NOMOS has always done an excellent job developing an inclusive catalog of watches for both men and women. As a microcosm of this idea, their Orion collection does precisely that with their many editions. NOMOS is very much known for its fusion of avant-garde ideas with inspiration from the Bauhaus School of Design in their lines. The Orion, in general, is a testament to this approach given its minimalistic dial, offering just what is required while not cutting corners. Leaning into a more contemporary form of elegance with a leather strap and a very thin case due to the NOMOS Alpha Manual caliber within, this is one of my favorite watches out there. In fact, I am the proud owner of a larger version of the NOMOS Orion myself.

cartier watch

Watch 5:

Cartier Tank

When I think of timeless design in luxury watches, Cartier is one of the first watch designers that comes to mind, specifically the Cartier Tank watch. Arising from the golden area of Art Deco Design and being a watch favored by countless celebrities to British royalty, its legend does not require much further explanation. Available in a variety of sizes, the more cost-friendly Tank is a no-brainer for someone looking for a classic, dressy watch that, quite frankly, sets the standard for the rectangular case and Roman numeral markers.

Widely known for their intricate detail and stunning design, Omega watches have graced the wrists of A-list celebrities, politicians, royalty and astronauts alike. In addition to its prominent reputation, the Omega brand has a rich history starting from its inception to its worldwide adoption to its modern-day fandom. Read on to learn more about these exquisite timepieces.

Omega History & Industry Significance

Founded over 160 years ago, the first Omega watch was carefully hand-crafted by Louis Brandt in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland. Brandt established a small workshop in 1848, where he continued to make and sell watches to customers around the world. The brand was originally known as Louis Brandt & Fil before rebranding itself as Omega Watch Co. in 1903 after the creation of the famous 19 caliber watch named Omega. After a modest but successful 30 years of sales, Brandt passed away in 1879, leaving his company and visionary aspirations to his sons.

In 1885, the Brandt’s sons released The Labrador, which was their first mass-produced caliber watch. Seven years later, they created the first watch capable of minute repeating, and by 1894 the 19-line Omega Caliber was born. The brothers moved the luxury watch operation to the region of Bienne, Switzerland, a move that would eventually transform the company into a global brand within the watch industry.

It was in Bienne that Paul-Emile Brandt first took hold of the opportunity as the official timekeeper for an international balloon racing event, leading to the distribution of Omega watches in six different continents. This opportunity would later solidify one of the most important turning points in the brand’s future. In 1932, the Omega brand became the official timekeepers of the Olympic Games. Since then, Omega has fulfilled the role of Official Timekeeper for the Olympic Games on 28 occasions. They also record performances for the Paralympic Games and Youth Olympic Games, a significant honor on all accounts.

What Makes Omega Watches Special?

Omega has a long-standing reputation for making exquisite, luxury watches of the highest caliber. This notoriety begins with the quality workmanship put into each watch. Swiss-made watches have long been the standard for excellence within the industry. To qualify and be labeled “Swiss,” a watch must meet very specific guidelines rather than just be produced in a particular geographical region.

Aside from being top quality, Omega utilizes an aggressive advertising strategy to sponsor sporting events, major movie features and celebrity endorsements. This approach helps to create the air of exclusivity that encompasses the brand. While the watches are highly sought after, they are also very expensive, further targeting an elite audience.

Omega watches can be spotted in numerous space-travel movies as well as throughout the James Bond franchise of films. It’s no secret that the world’s most beloved spy would need a high-quality, functional timepiece to conquer his missions, and Omega certainly fits the bill. Noteworthy appearances of Omega timepieces in James Bond movies include:

 • No Time To Die (2020), Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition
 • Spectre (2015), Seamaster 300 Spectre Limited Edition, Aqua Terra 150M
 • Skyfall (2012), Planet Ocean 600M, Aqua Terra Co-Axial
 • Quantum of Solace (2008), Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial
 • Casino Royal (2006), Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial, Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial

Omega has a storied history and has made countless contributions to the watchmaking industry, including having the first watch on the moon. While every Omega watch is something to be marveled at, there are few iconic collections that stand out.

omega seamaster watch

Omega Seamaster

Loosely based on designs made by the British Royal Navy, the Omega Seamaster was born in 1948. This beautiful watch remains the longest-running product line by Omega that is still produced to this day. The key feature of the original Seamaster was an O-ring gasket, which was used to provide a waterproof seal as well as protect against pressure and temperature changes.

Major Movie Features: Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008)

Celebrity Wearers: Daniel Craig, Prince William, George Clooney

omega speedmaster watch

Omega Speedmaster

The Omega Speedmaster was originally part of the Seamaster line and made history in 1962 as the first Omega watch to enter space on astronaut Wally Schirra’s wrist. Several years later, Omega received a noteworthy endorsement from NASA, making the Speedmaster the official timepiece for American space missions. This watch would later be worn by Buzz Aldrin on the first trip to the moon.

The watch is vintage yet easily wearable, desired by nearly every collector at some point in their life. Initially, the Constellation was called the Globemaster in the USA before running into some trademark issues. The golden age of Omega’s Constellation collection ran from 1952 until the mid 1970s, although it remains a popular seller to this day.
